Happy Happy Friday!!

I hope you had a wonderful day and you are planning a lovely weekend!!

My Yogi Tea-Spiration today! LOVE THIS!!

I have to make a confession.

I love ice cream. Yes, I love ice cream.   Some people are salty lovers, sweet, chocoholics, me, I’m an ice cream lover!  Is it the creaminess, the dreaminess, the fact that I live in Florida and it’s hot 9ish months out of the year?  I don’t know. But I do know I love it.  I have come up with a few tips on how to eat ice cream in moderation:) I used to eat it almost everyday and as a dietitian I do feel that ice cream (in moderation) can be included in a healthy lifestyle. The key, again, is moderation.

How to Eat Ice Cream in Moderation 🙂

  1. Use a small dish – Like a little “ice cream” bowl.  I use one that’s about the size of 3/4 measuring cup. This works beautifully. You can even get super fancy and put it in a martini glass. Nothing like a martini glass and ice cream on a Friday night that’ll make you feel super lame cool!

  2. Use an ice cream scoop and use 1 scoop or 1/2 cup (usually the serving size).

Small ice cream scoop! I had to pick this one – It’s pink!!

  3. Small teaspoons – take smaller bites and savor every last one:)
  4. Put the ice cream away! Seriously, eating out of the carton is a recipe to eat too much! And if that doesn’t bother you – think about sanitary issues…. No, the freezer does not kill the germs 🙂
  5. Make your own!? Yes, it really is easy! It might not be ice cream but it sure as heck tastes the same and uses simple, whole ingredients. Moderation is still key here but it is an invitation to have “healthy ice cream” on this lovely Friday night!  YAY!

4 Ingredient Banana Peanut Butter “Ice Cream”

Serves 2

  • 1 frozen ripe banana
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tablespoon of PB2 or Peanut Butter (Read about PB2 here)

Place all ingredients into a blender (I use the Ninja). And blend until smooth.  If you like it cold and creamy, remove and place into a freezer safe dish or tupperware and freeze for ~30 minutes.  ENJOY!!!
